Most of the Cloud Services offer so called versioning.

What is the size of your document - on your drive? 

How long have you been working on this file - with the same name? 

When was the last time you've saved your document with a new name? 

It's possible, that your document got corrupted. 

When you do just Save - InDesign saves Undo History - which is no longer available after you close your document - but is preserved as part of the document - making your document bigger and slower and prone to corruption.

Try IDMLing to fix your document - export as IDML, open, save with a new name - do not overwrite your original file. 

IDMLing might not bring back last changes - but will fix your document anyway. 

Then, start doing Save As with a new name at the end of the day - then, next day, work on the saved copy.

Would you mind sharing the version of InDesign and the details of the OS being used? Is the issue specific to a particular file or happening with multiple files? Is it happening with a newly created file as well? Do you see any pattern in the objects disappearing in the file, e.g., a particular type of element vanishing? Once it vanishes, how do you get it back? Also, where is the affected file being stored, local drive, remote location, external drive, or on the cloud?
