Embarrassing: Every update resets settings

Im on the brink of waving InDesign goodbye, when this happens ever egain.

After Updating InDesign to 20.3.1 every window with a previous checked "preview"-checkbox gets reverted to unchecked – Every. Effin. Update.

Is this really neccessary??

Hi Jan,

Justed wanted to chime in and say I agree with you. It annoys me, too ... a lot!

I have suggested making it switchable in Preferences. All on at once would suit me.

Hi @Jan373823687ed1,

Thank you so much for sharing your detailed feedback. I completely understand how frustrating it is to have to re-enable 'Preview' in multiple dialogs after each update.

I agree that this would make for a much better user experience, and your suggestion about keeping these settings in a save file is very reasonable.

To make sure this reaches the product team directly, I would strongly recommend creating a feature request on our UserVoice forum here: https://adobe.ly/4lBqvJk. Doing this will help us prioritize this request, and you will be notified of any updates.

Once you create it, please drop the link here in this thread so that I (and other users) can upvote it too and help get more visibility.

Looking forward to your post so we can support it!

10.5? Embarrassing, ...again!

Why even wait for user suggestions, when this is apperently broken.
But I did what you suggested.
And others did too, at least since 6 years.

C'mon...

Hi @Jan373823687ed1,

Thanks again for your continued engagement and for taking the time to post this on UserVoice.

I've shared your feedback with the product team to check if addressing this is already part of their upcoming plans or if it can be considered for a future release. I'll keep you posted as soon as I hear back from them.

Appreciate your patience and persistence.

Abhishek

20.4.1 🤬

I just finished checking Preview again on the ~15 dialogs I use the most.

Guess what every update, also minor like 20.4.1, does to those settings?

...dont come whining about users running off to Canva. Remember QuarkXPRESS? Ask them about how it went flipping off users all the time.

The fact that preferences are reset is actually a good thing in the long run. Using older preferences that were attached to an earlier coded version of the program has been shown to more often than not lead to serious performance issues with the newer version. Having to reset things each time is admittedly annoying but the alternative is usually worse.

Bang-wrong: The preferences do stay, eveything fine with that, also workspace and pallettes.
Only dialog boxes are affected.  Evey update. Thats bad UX.

Instead of just sweeping my settings, ill exspect Adobe to a.) ask if this can be resetted. Or b.) just house these settings into a save-file like the preferences, which gets carried over.
