endnotes for second story go to end of first story

This has got me completely fooled. I have used Indesign to publish journals for over 20 years so I know how it works. What is now happening is if I place an article in Indesign with endnotes all is well. As soon as I place the next article the endnotes from the second article go to the end of the endnotes on the first article and the second articles endnotes in the text are renumbered.

I can’t seem to find out why this is happening.

What I have tried so far inter alia:

  • Three different versions of Indesign up to the latest.
  • Numerous different articles
  • A completely different laptop with various versions of Indesign.

Is this happening to anyone else or am I bewitched.

Thanks for any help

Hi Ian:

What is the Scope set to in Type > Endnote > Endnote Properties? If set to Document, change it to Story.

Thank you Barb. I have been trying for four days to work this out.

I been using Indesign for 25 Years to produce journals and have never seen that settting. Maybe it is just in the latest version.

Thanks again

Ian

An endnote consists of two linked parts: the endnote reference number that appears in source text, and the endnote text that appears in a new frame at the end of the document. There is an adornment at the bottom left corner of the endnote frame.

Maybe you are confusing ENDnotes with FOOTnotes?
