Hello

As familiar it is possible with video to view it in full screen by clicking the inbuilt full screen icon.

Are there any similar Indesign feature for an image?

I have tried object state, having a smaller picture as a button to show the state that correspond to a bigger picture. This wors fine, but could this be done simpler without object state?

In InDesign the subject is the page, thus you have previews of the whole page, without gides or full screen.

If you have an small image you can zoom in to it, not with a click or menu but using simple keyboard shortcuts.

What you are you doing is correct, but it uses two different sized pictures, and display one or the other. It's valid for publish or working with the file.

An alternative would be hiding one of the two versions as a (hidden) button.

Place the enlargd copy where you like. Convert to a button and define it as non visible, use other object, frame,... as another button that triggers the visibility of the first button (the hidden large) image. You can duplicate them and replace contents, the images, along your documnt.
