Eporting to EPUB without OEBPS?

Well, this has thrown me for a loop. Amazon is telling my client that it no longer accepts files made using OEBPS. That's how InDesign exports epubs. I know of no other way of making them. Help???

Evidently, other recent epubs have exported without OEBPS, but this particular file doesn't. What am I doing wrong? Google AI says, "The 'OEBPS' folder is a standard part of the EPUB format structure, so it will still be present in the final exported file, regardless of your settings."

I've tried rebuilding the file, but it's still giving me OEBPS.

What's driving me especially bonkers about this is that Amazon was so clear about communicating that the MOBI format would end, but I have heard nary a peep about OEBPS until this emergency.

Did I mention I'm sick and should be in bed? 😉

Not sure if this will work, but...

On a COPY of the epub:

  1. Change the .epub extension to .zip
  2. Open the zip file
  3. Remove the OEBPS folder
  4. Close zip file
  5. Change extension back to .epub
