Epub export not displaying images

When exporting a simple interactiv document to EPUB (fixed layout) none of the jpeg formated imagery within the indesign file is 'showing' in the final e-book. I ave checked the image formats, tried  various ppi's, changed the view settings (although I don't hold out much hope on that one. Even deleted every element of the page and exportde just pages of single pictures. Nothing seems to work.

Any idea why anyone?

The most rustrating thing is, everyting was working fine 2 months ago for a 70 page doc, with back ground imagery and video content.  I must have inadveratntly changed a setting, perhaps.

Anyone had any similar experiences?

Help

Thanks

Do not use apostrophes in your file

names. You may already know this, but it cost me $82 and 55 minutes with an Adobe certified tutor. 🙂

I think there are two threads running on this. It's not (really) news that you should avoid all non-word characters in file names, especially for online use, regardless of whether any one platform, app or OS allows them. A-Z, a-z, 0-9 and underscore are, AFAIK, the only filename characters that are safe and reliable across the spectrum of online platforms. Even a dash can be misread by some apps.

Have you checked to be sure all of the images are linked?

I would suspect document corruption of some kind. Do the InDesign cha-cha: save the document as IDML (I prefer Export to rather than Save As) then open it again as an INDD doc and see if the problem has gone away. This fixes a lot of small corruption and glitches.

Otherwise, especially as the document once worked and you sound like you know your way around the settings, I can't think of anything obvious. Try the fix and let us know.

    Hi James

Thanks for coming back to me. None of ypur sugestionns worked. However I have managed to get the export to work.

I was working on a imac running catalina 10.15.7 (late 2013 3.4ghz quad core i5) and running indesign 17.4. This mac wouldn't show the imagery in the export epub file.

Transfered across to a second machine - imac running monterey 12.6 (late 2015 3.3ghz quad core i5) and running indesign 17.3. The export worked, all images showing as expected.

Odd, but I got there eventually. I am not sure this aspect of indeisgn is quite as robust as the deskop publishing ability. Bit like the good old days of illustrator and quark.

    Thanks anyway
