Question

Epub Export Via InDesign Images are Left Instead of Center Aligned

I’ve designed two reflowable ePubs in the last 48 hours with same image alignment error. I design them all of the time, so it’s not me. Images are not center aligned though I’ve selected align center layout and even manually added object export custom alignment center to the image with same result of left alignment.

Please advise.

Thank you.

    Hi @chorner11,

Thanks for reaching out and for sharing the details. I tested this on InDesign 21.4.1 on Windows 11, but I wasn't able to reproduce the issue.

To help determine whether this is file-specific, could you please confirm if you've tested multiple files and whether they all produce the same result? Also, please create a new document with a centered image, export it as a reflowable EPUB, and let us know if the issue persists.

As Bob asked earlier, could you also let us know which EPUB reader/viewer you're using? I tested with Adobe Digital Editions, and the images remained centered. Additionally, please verify that both the EPUB Export settings and Object Export Options are set to Center, and share a screenshot of your EPUB Export settings.

If the issue persists, please share the packaged INDD file so I can investigate further:

If the file is confidential, feel free to send it to me via DM using a cloud-sharing service such as Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive.

    Looking forward to your update.

    Thanks,
    Abhishek

What version of InDesign? What operating system? What EPUB reader are you testing this with?

Hi, Bob, I had the latest 21.4.1 version. I had to roll back to 21.3 to get the images centered. It’s definitely a bug. I’ll hold onto 21.3 until a new update comes out.
