Epub losing paragraph spacing

Hello, new to InDesign, so bear with me.

 

I formatted a novel in InDesign, went great, now I'm working on the Epub. The problem I'm stuck on is paragraph spacing. When I use an Article Panel to export a single chapter, everything looks great (first screenshot), but when I export my front matter together with my first chapter using the Books Panel, the paragraph spacing goes away (second screenshot).

 

It's driving me crazy. Any help is greatly appreciated.

 

I'm using a Mac running Mohave, and Indesign 16.1, if that's useful.

You need to create Paragraph styles for any line spacing that's different from the base text style line spacing.
