Epub Spacing and Hyphenation, linking TOC on Android Kindle

I'm finding two issue in my epub, on Android Kindle, that don't appear to be issues anywhere else. Can someone speak to these issues.

1. Alignment: I'm using Left Justify for the body text, it works fine for most of the book but at some other parts the big white gaps between words are horrible! (attached) what is the best way to achieve the nice (left justify) alignment we usually see in kindle ebooks?

2. Hyphenation: What is the best hyphenation setting that you recommend for the Body text so it displays nicely in kindle? I noticed that some of the white gaps are created because a long word wouldn't hyphenate even though I turned hyphenation on in the paragraph style setting for my body text and set minimum 5 letters for the word to hyphenate. I have attached a file for referrence showing that it doesn't hyphenate the word "impeccably" but just drops it to the next line.

3. In Doc TOC: Again only on the Kindle Android, the TOC won't link to the proper placement in the book.

Your help is much appreciated and thanks in advance!

There is next to no control over how the Kindle reader handles either justification or hyphenation. I'd recommend not using any justified text setting; that will cure the first problem and likely greatly ameliorate the second.

Yes, you can do things, but all will be subject to the actual Reader's implementation, and the whims of every (human) reader's choice of font, font size, spacing, etc. It's a fluid medium and all you can do is make sure your document handles fluidity well.

As for the TOC, you should define a specific TOC "style" for EPUB/Kindle and specify it during the export. Using the default often brings all the problems of using any InDesign default or basic style setting. Avoid using "File Name"; use "Multi Level" and specify the TOC style to use.

(FWIW, I really dislike that they are called "styles" — they are a complete schema for TOC generation and formatting, which goes well beyond even ID's expansive notion of "styles.")

You should have the text aligned left (not justified) for a Reflowable ePub.
