Hola, comunidad.

This change, which came in with v19.4 as nearly as I can tell (maybe 19.2), is a permanent revision of the EPUB export model. I don't know why or what drove the change, other than that it's in parallel with many other accessibiilty changes. I don't think it qualifies as a bug or a fault, and seems unlikely to be reverted. This may be a case where Adobe, in working with the EPUB accessibility groups, is actually ahead of the curve, and it's up to all the validators and so forth out there to catch up.

There are hints that different export options might use the <div> method, but I have not had time to do any A/B testing to see. I do know it passes EPUBcheck and works in the base readers... so any problems with other readers, processors, validators and working methods are likely to have to be fixed at those ends.

Thank you, James for you quick answer.

We will then wait for the rest of the platforms to update.

Keep in mind I am by no means a final authority on EPUB, or even a major one; I'm just someone who has a lot of developed expertise in advanced EPUB/EPUB-to-Kindle publishing. You could ask questions of the various EPUB standards organizations and committees and get a more abolute answer — and I'd be interested to hear back wtih any authoritative info or links to explanations of how this model was changed.
