Error Message on PDF files when receiving through email

All of a sudden, several clients are saying they can't open the PDF files I'm sending them, although they open perfectly fine on my end. This has never happened before. Anyone have experience with this? Very frustrating.

Open the files in Acrobat and save with a new name and send those files

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post if it helps you get responses.

    • Which app are you using to create PDF files?
    • Which PDF reader do your clients use to open them?
    • What error messages are they seeing?
    • Ideally, the attached files should be saved to user's device & viewed in latest version of Acrobat.

I always save or export them as Adobe Acrobat files from within the program (InDesign or Illustrator).

No idea what PDF reader, as this has never happened before so have never questioned.

Error message says file is damaged and can't be opened.

When you post a question you always need to tell the Adobe program you are using
There are MANY programs in a full subscription, plus other non-subscription programs
Please post the exact name of the Adobe program you use so a Moderator may move this message to that forum

They are files created in either InDesign or Illustrator and then saved as a PDF.
