Error RGB when trying to package (for safety/backup)

warnings  1) The preset sets source profiles that do not match the current color setting file. Profiles specified in the color settings file are used.

I have the norwegian version, so I have translated the warning message by Google-translate.

Hopefully it makes sence to someone 🙂

I have packaged several files, but this one is tricky.

While packaging I get the warning that something is wrong, and I should try to export to PDF to se the issues.

And when I do so, I get the message that 74 of the files are preset with RGB profile.

So, what to do?

This is a large book-project with several chapters/seperate document put into a book-file.

But this warning only appears in this spesific file.

Hopefully someone can help.

Kind regards Gjertrud Marie (Norway)

For archiving purposes you don't really need the PDF. When you package for an archive you can uncheck Include PDF

Thank you !

1. When I start the "Pakke" (packaging) I get this warning : InDesign couldnt pack the dokument (document name)... Could not make PDF. Try to export file to PDF to see the issues.

2. I export the same file to PDF and get this message in "Sammendrag" (yellow sign):

3. And when I open the "Sammendrag" (yellow sign) it says: the sentence I translated with Google translate

1) The preset sets source profiles that do not match the current color setting file. Profiles specified in the color settings file are used.

4.

Does this help to understand my question?

Kind regards

Is your printer asking for the PDF along with the Package? If not you could package without the PDF.

I see the PDF Export warning

1) The preset specifies source profiles that don't match the current color settings file. Profiles specified by the color settings file will be used.

when I use one of the default presets—a preset in brackets such as [PDF/X-4:2008]. You can safely ignore the warning, but if you modify the preset in some way the warning will go away. Here I choose the [PDF/X-4:2008] preset, set the Standard to none and back to PDF/X-4 2010 again and the warning disappears in the modified preset:

Your layouts include placed RGB files, which is OK as long as your printer has agreed to make the conversion to CMYK for you at output. Usually when you are delivering layouts with RGB objects the PDF/X-4 preset should be used.

For now I do the packing for safety reasons and backup. But I think its the same files that goes to my publisher when its all done.

So your suggestion to change these settings will have no consequences or effect on the end result?

Should I do this to all my documents in this projects? Do you have any theory why this happened to only this document?

Thank you :-)

Are you seeing the warning during packaging or in the PDF Export dialog? Like this:

Hi Rob,
I guess it's the warning issued by preflight that "74 files in RGB color space are present".

That would be just a message, nothing serious, no problem. Some screenshots posted by Gjertrud would help to sort things out…

Uwe

That is a left over from the old preflight in ID.

Except for missing fonts and missing/modified graphics, it is pretty much useless and replaced by the Preflight panel. Even then, one is typically warned about missing fonts and missing/modified graphics when the document is opened, making the old preflight even more useless. I think it was just too much trouble to remove it...
