Errors opening/saving/packaging files in Indesign CC 2019 (mac OS 10.12.6)

Our whole team (7 users) are experiencing the same problems over and over.

We work on a server.

- When we open from our server a file 9 out of 10 times is says it cannot open it. It says we don't have the proper rights or it is already opened. After 3 times it's finally opening.

- Saving on our server has the same problems. It says: Cannot save the file under another name. The file is damaged.

- When making a package (on the server) it's starts packaging, after a few seconds it says, cannot package it, Can't copy publication.

We also experience a lot of problems in Illustrator too.

    iMac with cc 2019 run on 10.14

    iMac with cc 2018 run on 10.13.6

    Are the 9 out of 10 files using the same fonts?

    Maybe look at checking you're fonts for corruption and also clearing the font caches.

    How can I clear my font caches? We work with FontExplorer Pro.

    On the Mac, here is one method to clear your font caches;

    On Windows, do a Google search, "clear font caches Windows".

    I'm going to ask you to do the same thing that Adobe support is going to ask you to do but you won't have to wait on the phone. Copy your file to your local hard drive (your desktop is fine). Does it now open without a problem? Try the same with the package function although make sure you copy the links locally as well. Try packaging. Does it work? If it works locally but not on the server, there's something going on on the server side of things and Adobe can't help you with that. If it's still happening, then we can dive in a bit deeper. One thing I can tell you often trips up the package function is if you have unique characters in the InDesign file name or the names of the links that are placed in the InDesign file.

    Hi Chad...

    Yes it works local... So it's the server story.

    So strange Adobe says it doesn't work when you work on a server like 80% of the professionals do...

    Thanks!

    They don’t say it doesn’t work…they simply can’t support it. There are just too many variables.
