Is anyone going through the same issue? The charcters seem to crush themselves together.

This issue is happening very frequently, I'm working with a 13" 2020 M1 8gb macbook pro, os 12.1. Indesign 17.0.1.

Thanks for any help!

Check your Paragraph Styles to see if you have some negative tracking applied.

Upgrading your RAM will help your workflow and maybe reset your preferences.

It's not related to a particular paragraph style, not even a document. It seems to happen quite randomly across very different documents — heavy and light ones. It just happens, and, in order to get the text back to normal, I have to save, close and open it again.

Please, what do you mean by upgrading RAM? If it is installing a newer, more powerful piece of hardware, it sadly won't be possible in this computer.

My preferences were completely reset just a week ago, the app fully reinstalled in another language, so I don't think the issue could be solved by reseting prefs.. I'm guessing is another bug, like the disappering texts (which I'm also experiencing): https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/text-disappears-when-typing-in-text-box/m-p/12648909/page/17#M460927
