Everytime I import or place an image (png) in InDesign, I get errors

Every time I try to place an image (PNG) in InDesign, I get at least one, if not two errors -- transparency not allowed, and/or image resolution.

I've tried every setting during the import process and can't seem to get it solved. I also tried resaving the image through photoshop and still keep getting the errors. The image is a large enough image and the quality in every other application is excellent, but when I try to add it to my InDesign file, I keep getting the errors. How do I import or place an image in InDesign WITHOUT getting these errors?

There's no reason that the PNG won't work.

The fact that you've tried PSD as well tells us that you have more issues.

You might see an error like this if you are trying to use File>Open

as already mentioned - use File>Place as per @rob day and @Geоrge

I don't think there's any real reason to change the file format - unless having issues that you seem to be having.

I have placed and used 1000's of pngs over the years and no problem at all in print.

Anyway - seems like there's an issue with either how you are Placing the files.

If you still cannot use File>Place to place your images you can try

If a document is not behaving well then try

File>Export

Choose IDML

Open the IDML in InDesign
Save the file as a new InDesign file with a new name
See if the issue persists.

Try resetting your preferences:
The easiest way to reset everything is to delete the InDesign preferences: as soon as InDesign starts to boot hold down Shift, Alt, Ctrl (and Apple/Cmd if working on a Macintosh). A dialog will appear asking to delete the InDesign Preferences, select 'Yes' on this dialog.

Reinstalling rarely fixes everything - you can do a complete reinstall using the

Resave all your png to psd.

.png and .eps is the evil brothers for InDesign.

Remember, never say you can't do something in InDesign, it's always just a question of finding the right workaround to get the job done. © David Blatner

hi there,

ive tried resaving to psd several times (as well as jpeg too) and im still getting import failed, ive restarted indesign, but again no luck. is there anything else i can do?
