Expanding and contracting interactive PDF form fields

I have a large InDesign document with several one line form fields I would like to have the field expand when typed in and contract when completed. Otherwise I will have to add giant form fields that will make my document too long. Is there an InDesign plug in I can utilize to do this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It can't really be done in InDesign. Perhaps a script in Acrobat could modify the size of the form field as users type, but I don't think that would help users with Adobe Reader -- they'd need Acrobat, I believe.

Basically, there are two sorts of PDF forms: Static and dynamic.

InDesign can only create the static variety.

Text fields that expand as the user types implies a dynamic PDF form, and for that I believe you would need to get hold of Adobe LiveCycle Designer and design the form there, not in InDesign.

Here's a document the explains some of the differences: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/8.2/static_dynamic_diffs.pdf

Be aware that, even if you an acquire it, Adobe LiveCycle Designer is only available for Windows computers.
