Export in InDesign higher DPI without resampling

Hello,

so here is my issue: I want to export some banner graphics from indesign at 300DPI without resampling, and changing the resolution.

Hopefully this makes sense:

My artboard size is something like 300px by 300px. I want the exported JPEG to be at 300DPI so that if it is added into print, it is 1"x1". But when I choose 300DPI from the JPEG export dialog, it upsamples my image to 900x900px. How can I set it to the correct DPI in Indesign without actually changing the resolution?

Thanks for your help!!

I would think you would be better off exporting a PDF, which would be better for print applications, and can be opened at any resolution in Photoshop. Exporting to an image format is going to convert all vector objects & type into pixels.

My question is, what is the purpose for creating a High Resolution JPG out from InDesign. Maybe, that there are some better solutions for your purpose?

I am creating graphics for many uses that use the same design and layout, but different aspect ratios and resolutions. The team currently uses Photoshop, but I was tasked with exploring if indesign would be better for this type of thing.

Also, if your page is really 300x300 pixels (or 4.1667" x 4.1667"), the export at 300ppi should produce a 1250x1250 pixel image—4.1667x300=1250.01

An InDesign page has no resolution, but InDesign does have a static pixel ruler unit, which has a print output dimension of 1/72". So if your page width and height measures 300x300 pixels (or 4.1667 x 4.1667 if you set your rulers to inches) you can set either the JPEG or PNG export resolution to 72ppi and the exported image will be a matching 300x300 pixels.

Alternatively you could set the doc's page dimensions to 1"x1" (72x72 pixels) and export as 300ppi and get a 300x300pixel image

that could totally work, I'll try that out!
