Question

export page with the layer name

Hi all,

Is there a way on InDesign to export each page with the name of the layer contained in that page?

I have a document with multiple pages, each page contains one Jpeg with a specific name. How do I export those pages with the names of the layers they contain?

I hope you can help.

Many thanks,

Damiano

From what I am getting from your initail ask, you would need to loop through the layers in the document. In the loop you would check the pageItems. You would get the parentPage for that pageItem and export it with the name of the layer you are on.

What I don't understand is why you are eporting jpgs from a file of only jpgs to change their names. It seems like this would better be served with an operating system automation.

Hi @John D Herzog

The images you see there, are Low_Res jepegs, from the photoshoot.

The Art director, will crop and rotate them as visual reference nd save the docs.

Once retouched, Those Low_Res images will be replaced with retouched High_Res, which will keep the rotation and crop the art director applied on the low-res. From there we will then need to export the high res as single images, retaining their names.

Hope this explains a bit better.

Many thanks

Still doesn't make much sense...

If you know end size - why not scale / resize them in Photoshop?

A bit strange way to create a Document... Layers are "global" - you can't have a layer on just one page.

Do you have anything else on those pages?

Can you post a screenshot of one page / spread? Or share sample document - can be on priv - you need to click on my name in order to send me a message.

Hi Robert,

Thanks for your reply.

Please find here the screenshot of what the document looks like.

Basically, each jpeg contained in each page, will have to be exported (as Jpeg) and keep the same name as per layer. At the moment I'm only able to export each of them with the same name and the _01/02/03... extension.

I hope you find this useful

Many thanks,

Damiano

What you've uploaded - is Links Pallet - not Layers.

As you already have those LINKS named - why do you want to export them again?

Do you have anything else on the pages?
