Exporting for external use (translation)

Hi all,

I have a document written in English and need it to translate into german. The only problem is, that the translation will be done by an external guy, and I don't expect to have InDesign. Is there any solution to export indd to some file, that be easy to use in "standard/free" software? Or the only solution is to export it as a Word file and then copy-paste it into my original indd file.
