Exporting PDF gets stuck at 57% with InDesign 15.0

CC just updated to ID v15.0. Trying to output a PDFx1a 11x17 spread with bleeds and it keeps just hanging at 57%. No error, just never finishes outputting the PDF.

Anyone have a fix? I've rebooted multiple times. Re-saved the layout and it still hangs.

on 3.5ghz 6 core e5; 32 gb ram

Thoughts?

Have you tried exporting a pdf from an entirely different file to see whether the problem is document specific rather than program specific?

It's definately file specific. I was searching for the "why does this work in older version of ID but not newer version of ID?" so the next time I'm not wasting time troubleshooting

Have you tried saving out an IDML? Does it happen with the PDF/X-4 preset?

What I did as a workaround was output as IDML, open it in the old version of ID v14.0.3 and that worked. Didn't work at all in ID v15. Which doesn't make any sense.

However, after some troubleshooting. I am using an EPS from GettyImages. I opened it up, resaved it as an EPS out of Illustrator, replaced it in the ID layout and that seemed to fix the output issue from ID v15.0. Just very strange that it works in the old version of ID 14.0.3 without that workaround. 🤔 🤔

EPS is an obsolete format—doesn’t support transparency or color profiles. If it is a vector save as AI or PDF, if it is an image save it as a PSD.
