Question

Eye dropper tool not functioning properly.

Any ideas on why my eyedropper isn't picking up colors from a placed Photoshop image? I have an image where I"m trying to select the BEIGE from text in a placed Photoshop (raster) image - but I keep getting black. I tried SHIFT selecting and OPTION selecting, to no avail. Any help?

There may be something above what you are trying to sample in the file, and the eyedropper is picking up from that instead.

What version of InDesign and what operating system are you using?

High Sierra, CC2018. I've gotten the tool 'to work' but I have to keep clicking off it and re-selecting it. Weird, but ok.

HI Scott:

Did you double click the Eyedropper tool in the Toolbox to check the settings?

And do you know that you have one "free" click with the eyedropper? If you don't get what you want the first try, hold down Option or Alt and continue clicking until you get what you want.
