Facebook renders color space differently than LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram?

I have created promotional posters in InDesign for our organization to post on LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. I used a custom green concocted within InDesign for the border and some of the text on the image, then exported as a jpg to post on social media.

The green color looks totally fine on LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter, but ends up appearing as a sickly bright green on Facebook. I included screenshots below that show how the green looks on LinkedIn vs. Facebook.

LinkedIn:

Facebook:

I have been trying to find answers via Google as to why the color space renders so much differently on Facebook than the other three platforms, but I have not found a clear answer.

So, question #1, why is Facebook rendering color so dramatically different than the other three social media platforms?

And question #2, any suggestions on how to fix it? Or where the root of the issue lays in InDesign? (Is it in the color I have selected, or is it something that can be changed in my export settings? Or a different issue entirely??).

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Also, I am not an InDesign savant, so please water down the technical langauge if possible!

Thanks!

Jeremy

I have solved this issue. When I originally created the custom green color swatch, the color mode I was using was CMYK. I changed the color mode to RGB in the swatch options window and voilà, fixed!

I'm assuming that Facebook is not recognizing any color profile.

Just curious, if the file appears correct on 3 out of 4 sites, assuming it is the same file, why would you think it is an InDesign issue?

I am not really assuming it is an InDesign issue, per se. I am more wondering if there a tweak that could be made within InDesign that would alleviate the issue on Facebook. I tried exporting the file with a CMYK color profile, for example, and it made no difference when posted on Facebook.

What I find especially odd is that the colors render accurately on Instagram, but not Facebook, even though both platforms are operated by Meta.

Try using the RGB transparency work space and use the sRGB profile.
