File does not open

My computer unexpectedly shut down when I was using indesign. When I went to open the file again, the following message appeared: "Cannot open file xxx.indd. The file format may not be supported by Adobe InDesign, the plug-in that supports this format may be missing, or the file may be open in another application." There is an idlk file next to the indd file. I tried to open it in indesign but nothing happens.I've tried everything, can anyone help me?

Try to open a copy. Also, if you're file is in a cloud folder be sure it is fully synced to your local harddrive.

Try the steps explained here: https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/troubleshoot-file-issues.html

If this does not help, you can send the corrupted file to idfile@adobe.com and they will investigate the issue and let you know if the recovery is possible.

Delete the idlk file and try again.

Try to reset preferences: quit InDesign and relaunch it while holding down the Shift, Ctrl and Alt keys [Windows], Shift, Ctrl, Alt and Cmd keys [Mac] until you see a warning message asking for confirmation.
