I have a document that keeps crashing when I address a footnote on the page. I am updated, have restarted the computer (Mac) twice, and it continues to crash. It crashes on other documents from time to time, too, but this particular document will not fix.

Probably the document is corrupted. Try the following

  • Export the document to IDML and then resave it back to INDD and then do the operation that causes crash.
  • Try creating a new document by copying over the objects from this document onto a new blank one.
  • Check the document behaviour on another computer. This would rule out a malfunctioning installation of InDesign.

Thank you Manan. So far, so good with the IDML strategy.
