File>Place won't bring in my graphic (in .jpg or .tif). Any ideas why?

File>Place brings in absolutely nothing.  When I do File>Place on either a .jpg or .tif of the same graphic, absolutely nothing comes in!  Any ideas?  I can see it fine in the Snagit Editor, but cannot get it into InDesign.

Thank you all.

Just had my problem solved by our IT department.  I was in "Preview" mode.  When went to "Normal" mode, the graphic showed up!  Yay!  Thanks to you all, though.

Export and see if the picture is in the PDF!

    Hi bernicep14263616 ,

before placing make sure that you have nothing selected.

Then try to place the file again. A preview should be loaded to the place gun.

If you see a preview in the place gun, do not click!

Just drag a frame out with the place gun. Make sure that no other item is in the area of the page where you start dragging.

So you can control the size of the placed image.

If that will not help, open the image in PhotoShop and save it with a new name.

Work with file you saved with PhotoShop.

    Regards,
    Uwe

Are you sure you didn't accidentally choose File > Open instead of File > Place?

Thanks, but I ABSOLUTELY did File>Place.  Nothing.  Dead in the water.

Did you save the image before placing.

May be you should do « Fit to frame ». Choose the proportional fit, if you care about the aspect.

What did you do after selecting the file? You have to click somewhere on the page.
