Question

Files created in the earlier versions of InDesign are not converting in version 21.2

Hello, I’m having a very frustrating issue opening files in InDesign version 21.2 that were created in earlier versions. The files are not automatically converting, and as a result, the text appears against a pink background and cannot be edited. I’ve had to create entirely new files instead of reusing the old ones as all the attributes for my new project are the same. I’m now working on a similar project where I’d rather reuse my old files instead of reinventing this wheel again. Does anyone know how to fix this issue? Thank you for your help!

The file is opening on your machine right? So conversion is a process to convert older versions to newer version but that is not something the end user interacts with explicitly. Pink background would mean that probably the fonts are not being found and loaded. How did you connect this to faulty conversion?

That sounds unusual. What’s your operating system version? Also, do you know in which earlier versions the files were created?

Can you post some screenshots of this? What happens when you try to edit text?

Also, check if InDesign 21.3 update is already available for you (I’m not sure if it’s available in all countries yet.)
