I've had adobe InDesign installed on my computer for two years now. I recently upgraded to v18.1 as InDesign made their updates and converting docs from v17.4.1 to v18.1 was causing issues. However, in order to upgrade to v18.1 I had to update my windows package as well. Now every time I try to open an InDesign file from my computer's drive, email, etc., it still immediately opens v17.4.1 and warns me there will be issues downgrading the new file formats. I don't want to delete v17.4.1 because I have older InDesign docs that I do not want to corrupt by converting them into accepted v18.1 files.
I have set my default apps by file type to "Adobe InDesign 2023" (v18.1) where I am able to do so, but unfortunately, v18.1 is not an option for the following file types:
.indl
.indlk
.indml
.idms
.idpk
.idpp
.indb
.indd
.indk
.indl
.indp
.inds
.indt
.inx
.... the list goes on.
I'm wondering if this is an issue with Adobe InDesign or Windows? I was able to and am still able to, update those file types to v17.4.1 (2022), just not the latest version.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Thank you
