Fill wanted object with color in Indesign

I've fixed an image in photoshop so that it is png around around it and also a part in the image is png, and now I want to fill the inside of the image (only the png part) with color. I've tried marking it with the pen and then filling it with color but the I get an outline which I don't want. Is there anything else I can do, or do I need to do something in Photoshop first?

Correct answer Bill Silbert

If the areas of the png you're working with are transparent (InDesign recognizes the transparency of a png or a psd) then you can create a path filled with color in InDesign and simply put it behind the png (either on a separate layer or just behind it in the stacking order). The InDesign color will then show through the transparent areas.

Of course that's a 24 bit PNG - if it's saved as an 8bit PNG it won't work.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. If I understood you correctly, you are trying to fill color inside an image? If yes, you can create a path using the Pen Tool and please ensure its a closed path and then you can try filling color. If you are unable to achieve what you want to do, if possible please share a small video of the workflow or what exactly happening at your end.

Regards

Rishabh

I'm sorry, but none of that makes much sense. Can you post some images?
