Question

Fixing my page layout

Help. I think I really messed up initially setting up my pages, and I don’t want to have to start my work over. I thought I was designing something on a letter-sized page, but when I export to PDF, it only captures part of the document. And when I use the page tool, it only selects a tiny box on the layout. How do I adjust the content to fit the letter page without starting over?

First, that’s what happens (although I don’t have a solution for you yet).

Instead of setting page size to 8.5x11 inches, you set it in picas:

Which amounts to this size in inches:

The actual size of what you built in inches is nearly 28 inches wide (while the page size itself is as shown above):

    Hence all your problems.

You need to scale down everything accordingly.

Frankly, I don’t have a clear solution in mind of how to do this right now. I’m sure others will chime in.

Yes, thank you. I realized the issue after already adding a lot of the content, so I’m hoping there is an easy way to scale the content to the page.

    Not completely easy…

I created an alternative layout in the Pages panel.

Try different page rules to see what gives you the best results and then “happy cleanup!”.

When you are satisfied with the best alternative layout, delete the old ones.
