Hi All,

While creating a PDF from an InDesign file, we are facing a font clash (junk character) issue for this particular file. This junk characters only appears in PDF files; it does not appear in InDesign files. Can someone give suggestions on this specific issue?

Thanks,

Ilavarasan B

Correct answer Eugene Tyson

Looks like the glyphs are not embedding into the PDF - which might be down to font corruption.

Try deleting the font from your system and reinstalling it.

Hi @Ilavarasan B ,

what Eugene said.

Or you have the wrong kind of fonts, the wrong version of fonts installed.

Opened your InDesign 2021 document with InDesign 2023 where I provided the fonts with a Document fonts folder and cannot see the issue.

One thing in typography in the InDesign document is different in comparison to your exported PDF. The sentences "In older people, residual capacity is increased and vital capacity is decreased (Kaminsky, 2022). These age-related changes result from the following:" is set in 9 pt in the InDesign document and in 8.5 pt in the exported PDF. Did you edit the document after you exported the sample PDF?

Hi Uwe,

This problem was resolved after fonts were reinstalled. The wrong InDesign file was uploaded and caused the font size variation.

Thanks,
