Font Issue: Same font (Gotham Book) displays differently in the same document when viewed on two different computers

A coworker and I are collaborating on the same document. When I open the doc after she's saved it, Gotham Book appears as bold to me but it looks like normal (regular) text on her computer. We've confirmed we are both using the same version of INDD (we've run all updates). I've made sure to install all the same fonts she's using. This only happens with Gotham Book. Any ideas why this is happening? Also, when I open the document, it tells me I’m missing fonts even though I have replaced them multiple times now and downloaded the fonts. Gotham TT is one that it repeatedly says is missing, which I cannot find an exact match for. Could the license have been pulled for it?

Hi @authentic_questionera258 , Also, Adobe Fonts typically get Activated from Adobe Fonts—they don’t get installed in your computer’s system. If you check Type>Fine/Replace Fonts with More Info on you can see if the font is missing. Here I have  Adobe’s version of Gotham Book (version 3.30) showing as Activated from Adobe fonts, so its path is Added from Adobe Fonts, not a path to the local system font folders.

Usually you can’t have a font with the same name, but different version numbers installed in a local font folder and activated from Adobe fonts—you have to choose which version you want to use:

At my Adobe Fonts web account, Gotham Book has a Remove button indicating that it has been added and is available in Adobe apps:

Thank you, Leo.r!  This sounds like it would make sense. To be honest, I am not the most advanced user. lol We did an online search last week and tried installing all the Gotham fonts via creative cloud app. When I just went back now to check my fonts, Gotham Book is listed under “Added fonts” and says it did not install because a font with the same name was already installed. Troubleshooting instructions say to locate it on my computer, delete it and reinstall from creative cloud. When I try to delete from my pc, it says it can’t be done because it’s in use. I’m not sure I’m answering your question. :/ The strange thing is, other than this shared document, Gotham Book looks perfectly normal when I try to use it in a new document. Maybe I should note that the shared document was created by duplicating a previous (years-old) document that was owned by the other collaborator. That is probably affecting the performance/display on my computer, if I had to guess.

Most likely, you have different versions of the font installed on two machines or/and have multiple versions on the same font installed indifferent locations on one or both machines.

First, check the font version in the Find Font dialog as well as its location reported on both machines. Also, search the machines for multiple copies of this font. How is the font installed?
