Font just exist in the Adobe InDesign and not the Widnows Fonts folder!

Hello,

In an Adobe InDesign document, I see a font that doesn't exist in the Windows Fonts directory!

I clicked on "Type > Find Font" and then selected that font and then clicked on the "Reveal in Finder" button, but Windows Explorer just opened the My Computer and not the Fonts folder. That means that that font doesn't exist. When I clicked on the other fonts, the "Reveal in Finder" button opens the Fonts folder!

The problem is that the font is not OK and corrupted my InDesign document texts. How Adobe InDesign shows a font that doesn't exit? How can I solve it?

I'm using Adobe InDesign 2021 x64 on Microsoft Windows 10 x64.

"Fonts installed by one document are not available to other documents."

This statement is not as accurate as it could be.

Every document in the same parent folder together with a Document fonts folder can see and use the font files stored at Document fonts. Also: to create a Document fonts folder it is not necessary* to use the Package For Print functionality: Simply add a folder named Document fonts, add some font files and one can use it with one or more InDesign documents in the shared parent folder.

[*] It's even a bad habit to do the packaging process to get the fonts, because only styles that are actually used will be collected. Not the ones from the same font family, that may be needed with Character Styles or Paragraph Styles that are currently not in use.

Document installed fonts
Fonts in a Document Fonts folder that is in the same location as an InDesign document are temporarily installed when the document is opened. The Package command can generate a Document Fonts folder when you want to share your document or move it to a different computer.

Fonts in the Document Fonts folder are not the same as fonts available from the standard operating system font locations. They are installed when the document is opened and supersede any font of the same PostScript name. However, they supersede only fonts within the document. Fonts installed by one document are not available to other documents. When you close the document, the fonts that were installed for the document are uninstalled. Document installed fonts are listed in a submenu of the Font menu.

It's probably installed using Adobe Fonts. As a Creative Cloud subscriber you have access to thousands of fonts in the Adobe Fonts library. You install them in your browser, but the easiest way to get there is through the Creative Cloud app.

Adobe Fonts are only available to Adobe Creative Cloud apps. The fonts are in a hidden folder and not accessible to your system's font library.

Are these fonts available with a perpetual desktop license? What if I need a custom license?

Perpetual desktop font licenses and custom font licenses for third party fonts can be purchased from the font foundry's website or from the foundry's authorized reseller.
