Font Loading Issues Indesign

We have had a problem with Indesign where when we open a document one of the fonts wasn’t displaying correctly which wasn’t spotted. Upon investigating, when you open the document up for the first time, it displays incorrectly, but if you open up for the 2nd time, without quitting Indesign, the font displays and outputs ok.

Has anyone experienced this and what the issue could be?

Hi @genlee85, What font is causing the problem? There are some Adobe fonts than get activated from Adobe Fonts, but can also be downloaded and installed from other services— Google fonts can cause conflict problems.

HI Rob, it a particular clients own branded font rather than a Google/Adobe font.

Are you using font management application?

If not, what system font folder is the font installed in? When the font is active you can get its installed location from Find/Replace Fonts:

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry for the trouble. Would you mind telling us the version of InDesign installed on your machine? Is this happening with a specific font or all fonts?

Does that happen with a specific file or all files?
Is the font showing as activated in the Creative Cloud Desktop app?

Hi Harshika,

The version of Indesign in question is 21.5.1 and we have only noticed it with a specific font in a specific file as it is a corporate brand font.

I am not sure at the time whether the font was showing as active in the Desktop App or not.
