In addition to waht Randy said, this sounds a lot like the Type1 font warning that was popping up erroneously for OpenType fonts with Type one outlines. If, in fact, that is the problem, and you are using only OpenType or TrueType fonts you can safely ignore the warning. This was fixed in one of the more recent releases of version 18.

Are you on a Mac or a Windows machine? Are you working with somebody else who's using a different system to produce the same InDesign documents? What version of InDesign and operating system are you using? There are some software version/system conflict issues that may be at the root of your problem. I'd start with using the search bar at the top of this page to search "InDesign font version issues" and start researching from there.

If those threads don't help you, it could be a matter of getting everyone on the same page (so to speak) by ensuring everybody is using the exact same font files. The good news is when you're using fonts like "Pro" and "Standard" named fonts. It's not exclusively the case, but many of those are OpenType fonts which can be used on either Windows or Mac systems.

But even then, that doesn't mean you're using the exact same font. Even among Adobe fonts, they are periodically updated/improved/restyled and it's not inconceivable that your Mryiad Pro Italic might be slightly different than an older — or newer — version of the same exact font. This isn't a high-percentage situation, but it does happen. This is easiest fixed by ensuring everybody is using exactly the same font file(s).

Hope this helps,

Randy
