Fonts locked in EPUB export

Hi InDesign experts.

I'm exporting my InDesign file to a reflowable EPUB.

The fonts are locked - i.e. if I specify a particular font in the reader, that is ignored.

I've tried all the switches I can think of:

- Export with and without embedded fonts

- Styles mapped and not mapped to HTML p, h1, h2, etc.

The CSS generated by these appears with and without font-face declarations. However, the <p> styles always include "Garamond, serif" and the <h1> styles "Open Sans, sans-serif".

Please help.

Hi Chris,

could it be that your fonts are not embeddable even if you check the option to embed fonts?

That the makers of the fonts will not allow that this font is embedded?

Did you crack open an exported EPUB to see if a font file is inside the EPUB?

Did you try with a different font?

The latest version, 1.2.0, has been extended to also support .idml files."

What version of InDesign? What EPUB reader? Are the fonts opentype and embeddable? What are the export settings from InDesign?
