Fonts mysteriously disappeared and can't reactivate

Early this morning we had a quick off/on power surge. Today I find my InDesign document is now missing fonts that I've been working with for months. I've turned on auto activate and after 40 minutes nothing has happened - just watching a spinning blue wheel. I've gone to the font menu and tried to activate there - again nothing. I'm now in adobe fonts and again just a spinning wheel! I can't see added fonts, installed fonts, nothing! Why did certain fonts suddenly go missing and how do I restore these fonts to my app and document?

Yes I'm a creative cloud subscriber. Mac OS Ventura 13.2 - InDesign 2023

It turns out it was an issue with CC app and my Mac OS. Upgraded the OS and the problem resolved itself.

That's very odd but here's one more thing to try: restart your computer and then sign out and back in the the CC desktop app.

Great! I marked your answer as correct.

It would be helpful to know what operating system you were on and which one you updated to that took care of this. It will likely come up again for someone else.

Also, make sure to update to the latest Ventura, macOS 13.6.x. You can run into various InDesign issues on earlier versions.

reset the cc desktop app by making sure it's in the foreground, then press:

Win: Ctrl + Alt + R
Mac: Cmd + Opt + R
