Hi Eeveryone, can anyone hlep with this issue, I am writing a PDF from the latest Indesign 2023, when I go to open the PDF in Acrobat DC, I get lots of dots and a warning saying certain fonts cannot be embedded, there are NO type 1 fonts being used in the document and when i write this from an older version of InDesign 2020 it works fine, I have uninstalled InDesign and Acrobat and installed them again but I am still getting the same issue, I have also deleted my font cache. I recently migtaed my older Mac froma round 2015 to a brand new iMac and is very frustarting this is happening, any help would be much appreciated.

Hi, @Chrissyboy,

I saw this kind of problem (Acrobat can not extract the embedded font) if the font has licensing restrictions regarding embedding it in PDF.

And as this is a subset of the font Acrobat also can not use the installed font as the names do not match.

So you should check the licensing of your HelveticaNeueLTPro-Roman.

But as you have no problems when making PDFs from InDesign 2020, it shouldn't be the problem.

Or do you embed the font completly when using InDesign 2020 and only a subset when using InDesign 2023?

Regards

Stephan

Hi @Chrissyboy ,

please make a sample InDesign document available where you see the issue.

A packaged file in case you did place some PDFs and/or EPS files containing the font in question.

Your message in Acrobat with XFNJXS prefix on the font name is not normal.

Did you perhaps merge some PDF pages to a new PDF?

I expect font problems with EPS, but not with PDF files, at least if the PDFs are accordinf to any X-standard made.

@Willi Adelberger said "…I expect font problems with EPS…"

Hi Willi,

if the font's glyphs are all included in the EPS I do not expect any issues at all.

When you migrated from your old Mac to your new one - did you do clean new installs of the software or migrated the software over too?

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for your reply, I migrated the software too, then upgraded all the Create Suite programmes.

I am thinking it could possibly font conflictions that it brought over from an version of suitcase possibly?

Thanks

just to confirm @Chrissyboy

you migrated your indesign app from one computer to another instead of installing the cc desktop app and use it (the cc desktop app) to install your indesgin?

Does this happen with one particular file, or does this happen with every file where you try it?

If it's just one file, choose Type > Find/Replace Font to open the Find/Replace Font dialog, and make a screen capture and post it.

Please tell us what operating system (exactly) you're running.
