Footnote formatting on import from Word

First, i'm a newbe with InDesign so i'm not sure where i'm doing things I shouldn't :).

I'm doing a 160 page word doc, that uses lots of tables and footnotes. Over a thousand footnotes. The correct number and footnote text are imported, but they are reset with the default paragraph style and not the footnote text style from Word. I can manually go in and reset the style to footnote text, but i'm not looking forward to doing that 1600 times.

How do I get the import to use the right style?

David

You may not be aware that when you import a Word file into InDesign, you can set up Style Mapping to map Word styles to InDesign styles.

Here's an article which explains it:

Thank you. That was exactly the push I needed to start solving the problem.
