Footnote reference mark in text is not visible in a fixed layout epub

Question

I exported a fixed layout epub from ID 20.5. The footnote reference in the text was not visible, but the footnote at the bottom was visible and the number was correct. I repeated this 12 times, trying different things like removing character styles on the reference mark, etc. Nothing worked. I am attaching a screen snap showing one example.

What can I do to fix this problem?

Bizarre. Somehow the CSS must be turning it white or something. If you are comfortable looking inside — and FXL from ID is a hot mess and I wouldn't with that on anyone — you could look for a CSS definition that's making it disappear.

A quick note: FXL is meant for picture books, digital comics, and manga. You are going to have a hard time makign this work consistently across reading systems with so much text.
