Footnotes in InDesign

How can I insert footnotes at the beginning of a text, without losing the link to the footnotes contained in the text itself? Is there a plugin that can do this?

Thanks in advance to anyone who will and will be able to give me an answer

You can put a footnote marker anywhere you like, including at the beginning of a sentence or paragraph, if you choose. You can even (with care) cut and paste them to different locations.

Does that not address what you're trying to achieve?

I would like to know if I can move the entire footnote box above, before the text, without losing the references to the footnotes contained in the text - without getting this <?>

I don't think so, at least, not from within the ID document. InDesign is pretty rigid in its handling of footnotes, despite all the small adjustments and variations allowed.

I suggest the only way to do notes that are this non-standard is manually — resting on manual placement of the text box, formatting, matching up numbering, etc. — but ID's cross-reference feature, which is much more flexible and configurable than any of the fixed features (TOC, Indes, footnote, endnote) might be used to automate the linkages.

ETA — Once a methodology is worked out, though, it is likely scripting could be used to simplify and automate much of it.
