Formatting problem with PDF when packaging

Hello. I am trying to package a 44-page portfolio, but I am having a small issue when I open the PDF in the portfolio. Whenever I open the PDF, the pages that are spreads are showing up as separate pages. I have messed with a lot of settings since such as printer presets and looking into the document and layout. I would like to mention that in these attempts I have indeed changed everything to spreads when it comes to export and printing settings in which I find do not affect the packaging, at least how I would like it to. I haven't had any issues in the past, and I hadn't touched any settings, so I am not sure why this is happening. The only thing that might have changed this is that I republished my file online as a live link as I needed to add my portfolio to my resume as a hyperlink. When opening the file, you can change the view to spreads and even separate the title page; however, the pages are still separate and even have a spacing between them. I have a previous portfolio iteration that has an example of what it used to look like when I packaged it (you can see the number of pages is different on one than the other since the spreads are on one page for only one of the portfolios). It is important that I package and not export or print it, as packaging includes the link and also has a higher-quality PDF result.

  1. Packaging has nothing to do with the PDF quality. The PDF export setting is. important.
  2. For print you seed single pages, not spreads.
  3. For screen view  you can simulate spreads when you choose layout facing pages.
  4. Never send a. printer open INDD files, send PDF files according to his requirement.
