Formatting text boxes anchored within text boxes for accessibility tagging
Hi All,
I've been doing tagging accessibility for a while now. I use Chad Chelius's instructions from Lynda.com. My company creates long documents in InDesign where we have text boxes anchored within larger text boxes, such as call outs or sidebars, so the anchored text boxes can flow within the main text as we edit.
I have noticed that once we export to a tagged pdf, the content of the anchored text boxes is not creating robust tags. In fact, all the content of the text box is run together in one big tag.
For instance, when the boxed content contains lists, the lists do not have <L>, <LI>, <Lbl>, and <LBody> tags, even though bullets have been applied in InDesign. Also, when there are anchored graphics with alt text within the anchored text boxes, the alt text does not get added to the Figures, and in fact, gives an error in the Acrobat Full Check. Also tables do not tag properly. All the lists, alt text, tables etc., outside of the anchored text boxes tag properly.
Is there a better way to handle text boxes anchored within the main text thread to produce properly tagged content in the tagged pdf?
