Fraction in InDesign

I am working on a Mathematics book using an Arial font for my bodytext. Is there any other way to create a fraction in Indesign with an Arial? I've been trying a couple times without any success.

    Hi,

Use the glyph panel in InDesign to check if a font has fractions in it or not. for example the arial font(version 5.22) I have does have fractions (numerator+denominator) in it. On the other hand Arial version 5.00.1x on my Mac does not have fraction glyphs in it

If a font has fraction glyph it will be shown in the glyph panel and can be applied on text using the "O" adornment visible on text selection.

You may want to take a look at Dan Rodney's free Script: Proper Fraction: How to Make Fractions Automatically in InDesign & InCopy

It will work with any font, even if it's not OpenType.

Here's a post on creating fractions in InDesign that I wrote for one of my students. It works on CS4 and later versions of InDesign.

You are limited to the fractions included in the font—in this case Arial—unless you create a GREP stye which can make any numbers separated by a slash into a fraction, automatically.
