Question

Frame Edges Not Showing

Hi all - hoping someone can help with this. I have many documents that I have made where I add frames and insert images, as one does. However, after saving and reopening, if I want to delete a picture but keep the frame, the frame disappears. It is still selectable, but it does not appear as normal with the x in the middle. This is incredibly frustrating as I cannot see where my frames are and cannot plan my document appropriately. Frame edges are set to "show", screen mode is set to normal, all objects are set to be printing. What is even more frustrating is that when I make a new frame, it does have the x in it. Does anyone have a solution for this? Thanks!

Hi Leslie,

In addition to what Eugene Tyson thoroughly answered, make sure you are in Normal View; not Preview Mode.

Thanks Mike, although I have mentioned the normal view too. Great minds think alike

Apologies, Eugene, yes you did. I was reading too quickly.

Couple of things could be happening

There are 3 frame types, Graphic, Text and Unassigned (as per below screenshot).

Ensure you have View>Extras>Show Frame Edges turned on

When in View>Screen Mode>Normal it should look like this

If you still cannot see the frame edges - then you should check
View>Overprint Preview when this is on it hides the Frame Edges

When this is on it hides the Frame Edges
