Frame Fitting Options not changeable

For some reason in every new document the settings are set to automatic frame fitting which I find very annoying. I already changed it in the presets and in the settings under the cog at the right upper corner but it won’t change. I need to deactivate it for every single frame. I’ve only had this problem since I changed to an M1 Mac Mini (used Windows before) and from my employer I got an M1 MacBook Pro now which has the same issue. How can I fix this? Might it be an M1 bug?

na, dann können wir die Unterhaltung in Deutsch weiterführen:

 

Mein Vorschlag nach Objektstil [Ohne] zu suchen und genau mit dem gleichen Objektstil zu ersetzen, kommt natürlich daher, dass Deine Beispieldatei einen Grafikrahmen mit Objektstil [Ohne] hatte. Und der weist eine Formatabweichung im Objektstil-Bedienfeld auf, wenn das Objekt ausgewählt ist. Ein kleines + hinter dem Namen zeigt dies.

 

Beim Suchen/Ersetzen von Stilen folgt InDesign der gleichen Regel:

Ersetzt Du beispielsweise gefundenen Text bei dem Absatzformat "xyz" angewendet ist mit genau dem gleichen Absatzformat, also auch Absatzformat "xyz", dann werden die Formatabweichungen vom Format gelöscht. Bei Objektstilen ist das analog so.

Hi Yuliya,

you can reset the frame fitting options of all objects with applied object style [None] this way:

 

Go to Object Find/Change.

Find all objects with object style [None] ( in my German version this is style [Ohne] ).

Change the found ones to object style [None].

You could restrict your found ones to Graphic Frames.

( In my German version this is option "Grafikrahmen". )

    Thanks! Learned something new. I wasn’t aware you can target other things than text with Suchen/Ersetzen (also German here ;)). It did get quite a few pictures but I doubt it were the right ones. One time I have managed to catch a picture when I filled in the frame fitting options with the exact "Beschnittbetrag" but that seems to be different with every picture.

    "Might it be an M1 bug?"

     

    Don't think so. This could be a property of the documents you open with InDesign.

    If you change something when no object is selected, the change will be done with all new frames you create, because you set a new default. Can you post a document where this is the case? Just put in on Dropbox and share the link.

      First I thought you might be right because I didn’t get this issue with a new document I created just now. I thought that if I change the settings it automatically should apply to all frames, also the already existing, if I didn’t change anything manually. So that makes sense and maybe it’ll work in new documents from now on.
      But in the old one I have also changed the settings and still a new frame is using the frame fitting option. I isolated a new page for you.
