Question

Futura PT looks lighter in pdaf than printed

I'm using a Futura PT Light font in Indesign. When I export to a pdf the text is very light. When I print the pdf it becomes thicker, more like what Book looks like on the screen. I have a pretty normal household printer (HP Officejet 6950).

The result is that the document is easier to read in a print-out than the pdf on the screen. Is the printer the problem or does anyone have other ideas about this?

You'll just need to change to weight of Futura so it looks OK for your printer. There will always be differences between the way you computer/phone screen displays a font thickness and the way it prints on your printer.

Thanks. I assume you mean changing the weight from eg "light" to "book"? If I do that it looks OK on the screen but too heavy in print. Same problem unfortunately, only different weights.
