Generative Expand is always grayed out

Does the expand feature work with placed images in InDesign or only images generated by AI?

Whenever I try to expand an image the command is grayed out.

Help!

Make sure the image is smaller(!) then the frame it is in (you should see 'empty space' in the frame, top, left, right, left or a combination).

Had the same problem right now, found this thread.

After a little bit of testing, generative expand in InDesign only works with JPGs which is pretty useless.

Good idea bad implemented.

Be sure to not use a vector image and/or to not use a CMYK image.

So it does work, but only with jpg as source? What format it is in when it does noet work?
