Google Fonts in InDesign

I have installed a Google font to use with my branding and I am having trouble accessing one of the variants of it in InDesign. The Bold variant does not show up in InDesign, but it does in Illustrator. I've tried uninstalling both the font and the program already. Any thoughts? Also, when using the Regular variant of this same font, it does not embed properly when exporting to a PDF.

Hi 24318576sz07,

I'm also on Windows 10 with InDesign 17.2.1.

No issues with the static versions of the Google Font Cabin.

Let's test this in a Document fonts folder situation after you uninstalled all of the Cabin font styles from your system.

Download and unpack this zip file from my Dropbox account:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/aep0i9fje58jloq/Cabin-StaticVersion-INDD-17.2.1.105.zip?dl=1

It contains a Document fonts folder with all static Cabin styles from Google Fonts and an InDesign document that is using the Regular and the Bold style. Also an exported PDF/X-4 file where I see no issues with embedding the regular or the bold style.

Could be an issue with InDesign 17.1.0 or 17.2.0.

Should be fixed with InDesign 17.2.1. So do an update.

I just downloaded the font and put it in a document fonts folder and tested it that way. All variants are available. I didn't try installing it in the system but if you only need it for one document, try setting up the document fonts folder for it. Alternatively, you can copy it to to the InDesign/fonts folder where it should be available for anything in InDesign.
