Question

Google spreadsheet Indesign

Hello everyone!

I have a project where I need to place a Google Spreadsheet with data from a catalog into InDesign. Using data merging, I can integrate all the data into the InDesign file while preserving the column structure. Now, my question is: is it possible for the customer to make adjustments to the data at a later time? The overall structure will remain the same, but, for example, the price may need to be changed, and I want it to automatically update in InDesign.

Is this possible? Currently, I download the Google Spreadsheet as a .csv file and use data merging, but this prevents automatic adjustments from being made via the spreadsheet that would also reflect in InDesign.

Does anyone happen to have any ideas?

This may work for you: DocsFlow » Em Software

Thank you! Do you happen to know if there are any free options available? Or any other method besides applying a data merge?

Well, you get what you pay for. The Em Software solutions are excellent. I have no financial interest in this at all. If you want to manage things, this is the way to go.

The only other thing you could consider is linking an Excel spreadsheet and dump the Google Sheets. I will warn you that simply saving a Google Doc or Google Sheet as either Word or Excel will not work properly.
