How do I edit/create custom gradients in InDesign and how do I go about doing it?

    NO,

From the Swatches Panel Menu choose New Gradient Swatch and use the dialog to set the stop colors, OR drag swatches or colors FROM the the Swatches or Colors Panel TO the stops in the Gradient Panel. You can drag the finished gradient to the swatches to make a swatch from it.

The easiest way is probably to create a swatch for each stop color you want, then from the Swatches Panel menu New Gradient Swatch, but you can also create a gradient in the Gradient Panel. You must click the below the ramp ramp to show stops, then you can drag colors onto them.

I had some trouble getting the colors to drag into the swatches panel, it kept wanting to retain the default silver-ish gradient but I'll try it again. Thanks!
